A new fact sheet released today by Electronic Arts reveals a total of eight songs confirmed for inclusion in Harmonix Music Systems’ ambitious upcoming rhythm game Rock Band, and confirmed a variety of other features of the game.

This guy wrote some kind of music program that uses the Wii remote to create guitar like strumming. Pretty cool idea and could open up a new genre of rhythm based games designed specifically for the Wii.

Here we have the guitar controller for the upcoming Harmonix title Rock Band. From previous Rock Band details we knew that the controller would be modeled after the Fender Stratocaster but now we get to see with our own eyes. You’ll notice that from the front view it’s hard to distinguish which frets have buttons on them, yet from the top view pic it’s easy to see the colors on the side of the neck (top view pic after the jump). You might have also noticed that there are 10 fret buttons, yes 10, most likely the upper fret buttons will be used for soloing which ads a fun new element.

Here is a list of the up to date specs of the new Harmonix game Rock Band. I’ve excerpted some of the highlights, full list after the jump.
- One disk with 4 separate campaigns. Guitar, Drum, Bass and Vocal. Each can be played on its own from start to finish, in addition, a full band game is designed to allow for one huge co-op playthrough.
- Will feature full support for four player online play on both 360 and PS3. Any combination of on/offline play will work and each player can pick their own difficulty setting.
- 4 songs announced in the article, not sure if this is new or old but whatever.

The multiplayer features sound awesome, just being able to play through Xbox Live is a huge plus.

I’m not sure I’m prepared for this.
A sci-fi force more powerful than Lucas’ Star Wars is coming soon — not to a theater, but to an Xbox 360 near you. The Canadian developer behind 2003’s Knights of the Old Republic, a game set in the Star Wars universe, already did what none of the films could do: It let players choose the light or dark side of the Force and influence the plot accordingly.

Here’s two video’s from GHIII that demo a couple of the new tracks, My Name is Jonnas by Weezer and Slow Ride by Foghat. As well as getting a taste of the new songs you get to see what they’ve done differently to the HUD, particularly the rock meter and score meter.
Put on a diaper before you watch, it might get messy down there.
