Japan’s ‘iPhone Killer’

nani phone

Ever since Steve Jobs announced the iPhone in January, the cell phone industry has been dizzy to compete on the hype alone. Now that iPhone has delivered the goods the cell industry is even more frantic to find a respectable competitor. A very unlikely, and by unlikely I mean unheard of, player called Sophia Mobile has stepped up to the challenge with a device called the Nani.

Sure, this thing looks like it may be a strong competitor, but we’ll see. Oh yes, we shall see. I <3 iPhone by the way.

Not So Air Guitar

air guitar proThe Air Guitar Pro is a gizmo designed for air guitarists that actually plays music. You can create your own musical sounds by holding down the buttons and strumming the air. There is an infrared sensor in the neck that detects the hand motions you make and it plays the note or chords. It also comes with some pre-loaded tracks if you’re not into pressing buttons. This thing costs about $27. I’m pretty sure this is against most rules of air guitaring because it is making some kind of noise, but hey what do I know, I think the proper way to hold a baby is by it’s hair at an arms length away.

The Panic Button

the panic button

Having a rough day?  Or maybe just goofing off at work?  Then this panic button is for you.  That is if you’re using a PC because it doesn’t work on a Mac.  This piece of plastic desk clutter attaches to your PC via USB and when you’re feeling stressed out you simply lift the cover and smash the button with your fist.   You get to choose between three effects that will happen once you press the button.  The effects include an exploding screen, a punch the boss game and an Excel spreadsheet that makes it look like you’re actually doing something productive.

This probably isn’t the first panic button, in fact I think I’ve seen something along the lines of a foot switch which automatically pulls up something productive on your screen when your boss walks in.  Well, either way I prefer the old fashioned method of just putting my fist through my monitor then punching a co-worker in the face “just for looking at me.”

Trick or Treat? - Microsoft Mystery Product

Mystery Product

From Gizmodo.com:

I’m told that tonight, at 12:01am EST (okay, so tomorrow), the division of Microsoft that launched the Xbox and the Zune will unveil something very special . What it is, we do not know for sure, but it’s “something totally new coming out of the Entertainment and Devices division, and it’s going to change the way people interact with technology.” The email (which was not a tip but rather was mistakenly sent to me through official channels) also stated that “you really have to see it to believe it.” How tantalizing.

I’m a little excited to see what this is going to be about. However it seems like everything that could be invented already has been. Wait, where the hell are the X-Ray glasses? Maybe that’s what the mystery device will be. *fingers crossed*

Most Useless Thing EVER.

DiscPod Image

Congratulations to the genius inventors who made the Disc Pod.  This contraption holds a spindle of blank cd’s or dvd’s or whatever and ejects them to you at the push of a button.  I can’t believe someone thought this thing up and thought it would be a valuable gadget to have.  I mean who’s spending $14 on this thing?  If you bought/are planning to buy this thing then you, sir or madam, are officially the laziest person on the planet.  Now, where did I put my TV remote button pusher gizmo?
