There needs to be a universal controller.  This is getting out of hand,  I’m going to have 12 Guitar Hero controllers soon.  Sigh.

The World Series of Video Games has expanded its deal with CBS Sports.  In addition to WSVG coverage there will be four hourlong specials on the Eye web that will offer coverage of tournaments and follow the players that compete in them through the year.  The specials will film in Louisville, KY. Dallas, TX. Los Angeles, CA.  and the finale in Sweden.  All four hours of program time will air during the CBS Sports Spectacular block beginning in July, the finale will air in December.

WSVG’s events feature as many as 1,500 competitors and attract audiences of up to 100,000 people, depending on location.  The televised events will feature tournaments in Guitar Hero II, World of Warcraft and Fight Night Round 3.

Warm up your gaming fingers kiddies, you don’t want to blow it on national TV!

Activision has announced that there will be an Guitar Hero Encore, 80’s style.

Activision, Inc. today announced additional songs to be included in the latest installment of the critically acclaimed Guitar Heroâ„¢ franchise — Guitar Heroâ„¢ Encore: Rocks the 80sâ„¢, available this summer exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. The tour will continue with 30 awesome new songs from the classic era, allowing Guitar Hero fans to further experience the ultimate rock star fantasy.

This track listing doesn’t exactly tickle me with excitement but to each his own. No wait, my opinion is the only one that matters. Track list and full press release after the jump.

Activision just released a press release with some details on the next installment in the much played Guitar Hero III series. The presser confirms that they game will be coming to the PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360, with each console to have some kind of wireless controller. There’es even going to be boss battles and famous rock venues for you to play in. They also released a small list of some of the tracks that will be in GHIII.
